Andre Leite Alves of Pittsford NY talks about a few Festivals for the 2011 Summer in Rochester NY
Lilac Festival, Rochester International Jazz Festival, Park Ave Fest, East End Fest
As spring begins, people of Rochester NY begin their adaptation back to the un-frozen world. It is time to plant flowers, barbeque with family, friends and enjoy driving your convertible through the few months of nice weather. For Andre Leite Alves, owner of Aware Bear Computers this is no different. "Cabin fever is the reason why many people who live here in Monroe County leave for vacation in the winter time." Upstate New York can be extremely cold in the winter and unless you love skiing and snowboarding in such places as Bristol Mountain, located in the lovely city of Canandaigua, it can get pretty dull.
However the people who live in upstate New York are strong and used to this type of weather. A season pass to Bristol Mountain is a great way to enjoy the winter. You can go and skiing any time you want! It is actually a great value for what you are paying for. Now, enough of winter and on with the summer festivities!
Andre Leite Alves Rochester’s top picks for summer festivals are:
The 2011 Lilac Festival: According to their website, "The only 10-day free festival in America" This year the festival will take place on May 13th to May 22nd. The festival is a fantastic way to enjoy Highland Park and smell the beautiful lilacs as they bloom. The atmosphere is phenomenal, with many families and local businesses that will be present. For more information and photos on the Lilac Festival, feel free to visit their website: http://www.lilacfestival.com/.
The 2011 Park Ave Fest: The 35th Annual Park Avenue Festival will take place this year on August 6th from 10am - 6pm and on August 7th from 10am - 5pm. The Park Ave festival is a great way to enjoy a nice walk, listen to live music, and to see local merchants of Rochester. Free parking and shuttle busses are also available. The 2011 Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival: This is one of Andre Leite Alves all time favorite festivals. Every year, Aware Bear Computers’ owner Andre Leite Alves, along with other successful business men and the local celebrity, join the International Jazz Festival to listen to some of the world's greatest Jazz artists. This year the festival will be located in the beautiful Eastman Theater and will take place on June 10th through June 18th 2011. For more information on the Xerox Rochester Jazz Festival please visit their website: http://www.rochesterjazz.com/
The 2011 East End Fest: The East End Musical festival is a favorite among the younger crowd. This year the festival will take place on Fridays: June 3rd, July 8th and August 12th. It is not so much a festival for the entire family but it is worth seeing it. When the festival is over many people still hang around local bars and the "party" goes on until two in the morning. Just remember to be safe, drink responsively and please do not drink and drive. The official website for the event: http://eastendmusicfestival.com/
